Attention coaches: We are happy to volunteer time for an injury prevention or sports performance clinic for your team. Just give us a call at (330)723-2225.
Our sports clinics and seminars focus on Athletic improvement as well as injury prevention; you can not separate one from the other. Lou and Matt have played several sports growing up and continue to participate in athletics today. Although they certainly are not experts in every sport, they do understand that all good players have a level of athleticism that will allow them to excel at what ever sport they choose. Lou and Matt are both Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This certification is for professionals who design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in a team setting.
Clinics have included a combine format evaluation for baseline measurements of short shuttle, 3 cone drill, 10 yard dash, 40 yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump. Suggestions are made in the way of strength and conditioning which is age appropriate for the players and a 10-12 week follow up to re-evaluate and document improvement.
Basketball and Volleyball
Clinics have included evaluation and instruction on proper jumping and landing mechanics, assessing baseline for vertical jump as well as proper acceleration and deceleration movement patterns which are the safest for the athlete and in turn recruit the larger muscle groups to produce the most power.
ACL injury prevention is an integral part of this seminar for male and particularly the female athlete, we focus on proper vertical and lateral movement patterns, as well as proprioception and balance exercise to promote better body awareness to improve performance and reduce injury. Clinics have included instruction by NCAA division I University of Akron Men's Soccer Team.
A review of proper throwing mechanics with information on muscle imbalances in the shoulder girdle which create common shoulder problems such as: rotator cuff tears, impingement syndrome, bursitis and tendonitis, instruction on proper exercise to reduce the risk of rotational injury to the back and lower limb.
Golf is growing in popularity for males and females of all ages. Kyle and Lou conduct these clinics with several local PGA teaching professionals. A golf swing analysis is performed by the golf pro while flexibility, balance, and strength assessment is performed by a Chiropractor and Physical Therapist. Biomechanical issues often times restrict us from performing the drills or swinging the way the golf pro has recommended. If the body does not let us get into proper position then minimal improvement can be made.
